Maxxis and Derek’s Tyres to the Rescue

Maxxis and Derek’s Tyres Services has teamed up and donated a set of its MT764 Bighorn 4x4 tyres to the Mountain Rescue of Aberglaslyn, North West Wales and Snowdonia.

The hardwearing and reliable rubber will help get to stranded walkers, climbers and other adventurers, no matter what obstacles and terrain lies in their way.

Providing excellent traction and stability, the MT764 is a radial all-terrain 4×4 tyre designed for SUV and 4×4 vehicles and is available in 7 sizes (from 235/75/15 up to 265/70/17). Its unique, self cleaning, aggressive lug shoulder design helps ensure maximum traction in uneven conditions, and an extra-large and deep tread pattern enhances traction and braking power on all hard surfaces in wet or dry conditions. The tyre has been moulded for ice studs when extra traction is needed due to deteriorating conditions. The strong casing reinforces puncture resistance to help give drivers unbeatable off-road performance.

The Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team (AMRT) is a voluntary emergency service, with approximately 38 volunteers on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Its main function is to search and rescue missing or injured people in upland, mountainous areas, but it also covers urban, rural and coastal areas of North Wales.

Maxxis’ recent contribution to the AMRT has been greatly received by the team at the AMRT as Team Member, Dion Jones confirms: “As a volunteer rescue service we rely entirely on voluntary contributions. We can’t thank Maxxis and Derek’s Tyres enough for donating a complete set of their excellent 4×4 tyres for our response vehicle. The continued support from the general public means that we can continue to invest in new equipment, support the team during training days and maintain our vehicles, to ensure that we can continue rescuing people in the safest and quickest way possible, with the best equipment.”

Being able to support great causes is extremely rewarding for Maxxis, as managing director Derek McMartin confirms: “As a tyre manufacturer, it is great to be able to provide such a great cause with a  complete set of tyres to ensure that they can get the best performance possible out of their vehicle, and rescue people from mountainous terrain in the most proficient way possible, and recover vulnerable people out of any situation using the most reliable tyres for the job.”
