Maxxis Premitra HP5 Rated "Exemplary"

Maxxis Premitra HP5 summer tyre has been given an ‘exemplary’ rating for compact SUVs from Auto Bild Allrad. Building on previous endorsements in leading German independent tests, the result showcases the reliable quality and control provided by one of Maxxis’ premier high-performance offerings.

Up against ‘premium’ and ‘mid-range’ banded tyres, the Maxxis HP5 shared a top six spot with equivalents from Goodyear, Continental and Hankook, with a strong performance noted by reviewers in the wet. Tested across both off-road and dry conditions, the Premitra HP5 held firm to outperform five other tyres, including the Bridgestone Turanza T005, the Toyo Proxes Sport and the Nexen N’Fera RU1 SUV.

Just last month, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 received the backing of Auto Zeitung and Auto Bild in the passenger car segment, with a ‘highly recommended’ endorsement afforded by the former. Assessors placed the tyre third overall in the Auto Zeitung summer tyre test – closely behind the Continental PremiumContact 6 and the Michelin Primacy 4 – claiming the Premitra HP5 was ‘at the level of premium tyres.’

Speaking on the latest result, Derek McMartin, managing director of Maxxis, said: “The Premitra HP5 received some great recommendations when it launched a few years ago, including Motor Trend’s Tire of the Year in China and top spot in Wheels magazine’s 2017 tyre test. This latest result, building on its strong performance in the passenger car segment, demonstrates the versatility of the tyre, which has been designed to complement an increasingly popular SUV sector. Combining off-road capabilities with economical design and running costs, compact SUVs are a firm family staple for many motorists across the UK and Europe, and our HP5 tyre has been designed to deliver premier performance with these drivers’ needs in mind.”

The Premitra HP5 launched to the UK market in August 2016, and was the first of a new generation of tyres from Maxxis that challenged the status quo of the long-established brands in Europe. It achieved all the performance of more expensive alternatives, with characteristics such as its full silica tread compound delivering excellent grip in both dry and wet conditions. With a multi-pitch tread pattern providing improved rolling resistance performance, the tyre has been engineered to deliver all the Maxxis hallmarks of quality, value and performance in one attractive, economical package.

Motorists and dealers interested in the Premitra HP5 can choose from 65 tyre options from 15” to 18”, in width 185 to 255 and aspect ratio 65 to 35.
