Maxxis tops the podium with Max Anstie

Having missed the first round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship due to the injury sustained in Qatar in the MXGP, all eyes were on Max Anstie as he looked to kick-start his season in the British Championship.

The Maxxis-sponsored British rider did not disappoint as he brought home a clean day of racing with wins all round in the MX2 class.

The track at Cadders Hill was in perfect condition for Max’s first ever visit to the Lyng circuit. Max liked the layout and got comfortable with the track, qualifying with 4th fastest time.

Max got off the gate second and into a steady rhythm behind race leader Adam Sterry. At the half way mark Max took the lead and gained a steady lead with no mistakes or dramas.

In the second race Max got the holeshot and pulled away from the rest with a faultless performance.

For the final race Max was second in the first corner but quickly took the lead and continued to repeat a similar performance to previous in the day, taking home another victory.

Commenting on Anstie’s performance, team manager Steve Dixon said: “The last time we were here (in 2012) Mel won. It’s weird to be here without him and we’re all thinking about him. It’s good to have Max here representing and he has got the job done. It is a shame Mel isn’t here as it would have been good to see him and Max battling at the sharp end. Max rode three perfect races, never looking in trouble and both Max and the Bike looked one, smooth and effortless in the bumpy sections. So far all the signs have been good for this year but the overall results haven’t happened. Hopefully today is the start of where we should be.’’

Thanks to his perfect score Max is now 5th in the MX2 Championship after missing the first round, 29 points behind series leader Ben Watson.
