Back in July, Maxxis-sponsored off-road racer, Rob Butler, was crowned Ultra4’s new King of Wales for 2017. The 4x4 racer competed in the Maxxis-backed event in Glyn Neith on 14 - 16 July, where he stole first place; earning him his new title.
Butler, who competes as part of the Off-Road Armoury team, approached the event racing on Maxxis Trepador tyres. Having earned the King of Italy title in 2015, Rob was keen to bolster his success, and hoped to make a big impression on the crowds in Wales. Taking on Ultra4’s original and oldest track, lined with gnarly Welsh forests interspersed with rocky river beds and quarries, Rob stormed through each round of the Ultra4 unlimited class; securing 1st place in both days of the competition.
Maxxis’ Trepador tyres were developed with extreme off-road drivers in mind, boasting performance that has been tested and proven in the hardest terrain in the world. Its unique tread element arrangement ensures a uniform tread contact area for sure-footed handling; while its multi-stage staggered shoulder pattern provides improved control even on the most difficult off-road and rocky terrain. Furthermore, its nylon belt-reinforced tyre construction improves puncture resistance and prolongs tread life; all of which allows the tyre to fare well on some of the most challenging competition tracks imaginable.
