Japspeed drivers Shane Lynch, Paul Smith, Shane O’Sullivan and Danny Eyles were out in force at Anglesey in what was the final round of the 2014 Maxxis British Drift Championship. With none of the drivers having driven the track layout before, everyone was competing on a level playing field.

The track was extremely fast and challenging, with the speed gun recording speeds of over 80mph as the drivers transitioned from the first corner into the hairpin. The Japspeed Subaru, Lexus and S15s were all performing great and only required minor suspension adjustments to fine tune them to suit the circuit.

Despite not needing to compete in this round having already wrapped up the championship, Sully wasn’t going to relinquish his dominance anytime soon as he stormed to the top qualifying spot. Qualifying was a success for all of the Japspeed drivers with Danny taking 14th, Shane netting 19th and Paul Smith bagging 22nd.

The first wave of battles saw Shane Lynch drawn against Danny (with Danny taking the win) and Paul Smith defeating Wesley Keating and Tomas Kiely. Sully took wins against Marc Huxley and Mike Marshall and made it through the Top 4 as a result.

Unfortunately for Sully it was the end of the line as he was defeated in the battle for third place but, once the points had been tallied, the Japspeed drivers had done enough to clinch the Constructors title by ten points.

Once the Super Pro championship points had been tallied it was announced that Shane O’Sullivan had clinched the Super Pro championship title by a gigantic margin of 33 points, bringing the trophy back to Team Japspeed after Paul Smith won the title back in 2012.
