Top 8 in Europe for It’s a Drift Life’s Christian Lewis

June saw the It’s a Drift Life team head to Anneau de Rhin in France for the first round of the King of Europe Drift Series. Maxxis driver Christian Lewis was in high spirits now his trust T33 had good reliable power ready to get on some doors.

Arriving on track Friday Lunchtime, the team set up the pits ready to smoke some Maxxis tyres in the first practise. After briefing, Practise began and Christian gave it his all as he came through the woods with an entry speed of around 120mph and then initiating at around 90mph. All you could see were the clouds of smoke from the MAZ1’s.

After some great practise sessions on the Saturday morning, the team were looking forward to qualifying later on that afternoon.

With well over 40 drivers it was imperative that Christian was on top form. He went in hard and pulled off a great first run. The second run lead to a few heating issues but when qualification results came in – Christian had qualified 22ND.

Sunday morning and it was battle time. First up was German drift girl Denise Ritzmann. Denise had been very consistent all weekend but Christian’s experience enabled him to push into the top 16.

The top 16 battle was up against Szilveszter who was turning the sky red with his smoke. After talking with the team Christian was advised that if you are not within a few feet of this driver you just wouldn’t be able to see anything. So Christian took that advice and was on his door at over 100mph!!

Again Christian’s experience and go hard or go home attitude paid off and pushed us into the top 8.

Christian was now ready to take on Norbert Kovacik in his awesome M6. A great first run by both drivers meant Christian had to go all out in the second run. Both drivers went in hard and Christian was judged to have straightened and was knocked out.

The It’s a Drift Life team will now head to Greinbach in Austria on the 25th of July for King of Europe Round 3.
