At the beginning of the year, Evo magazine requested Maxxis’ latest high-performance car tyre, the Victra Sport 5, as part of its tyre test. The results were published last month [September 2019], showing that Maxxis would have beaten the Pirelli P Zero to the top spot had it been available to buy wholesale at the time.
- Maxxis Victra Sport 5 high-performance tyre ranked 99.1% in Evo tyre test
- Closest performance: Pirelli P Zero ranked 97.9% in Evo tyre test
- Maxxis tyres tested have the same spec as wholesale batch from same quarter
Evo magazine undertook a detailed tyre test earlier this year, testing a range of high-performance tyres from a variety of brands including Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop, Goodyear and more. The test covered wet and dry handling, wet circling, braking, aquaplaning and a general road test.
The Maxxis Victra Sport 5, the tyre pitted against the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in another test in 2018 and proving itself as a very competitive high-performance tyre, has now not only competed admirably against the Michelin but also the Pirelli high-performance offering, the P Zero, as of the Evo tyre test.
The results published in Evo placed the Pirelli in the top spot, achieving an overall score of 97.9%. However, had the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 been available in the tested size to purchase wholesale in the UK at the time of the test, it would have been victorious, having been given a score of 99.1%, and up to 25% cheaper than the Pirelli competitor.
The tyres tested were from the same production batch as a range of other sizes available in the UK, with the results of the test underpinning the Maxxis proposition of quality tyres at an affordable price. The Victra Sport 5 is available to buy across an ever-expanding range of sizes from most tyre dealers nationwide and across Europe.
