Wienen Wins ATV MX Championship

Wienen wins fourth straight atv mx championship, maxxis sweeps podium

After a close final round, Chad Wienen won his fourth consecutive ATV MX championship, with fellow Maxxis riders Joel Hetrick and Thomas Brown joining him on the podium. The race was held August 8 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. 

Hetrick took the holeshot and the win in the first moto, with Wienen in second place five and a half seconds back, and Brown in third place. In the final moto, Wienen moved into second place in the first lap, and soon grabbed the lead. Brown then moved into the second place spot and held it through to the finish line, while Hetrick came back from a mishap to take third in the final laps. Wienen took both the second moto win and the championship, earning a total of 479 points during the season. 

Hetrick, who was second overall for the season, earned additional honors at the final round when he won both the ATVRiders.comTop Qualifier award and the SSi Decals Holeshot Championship. Brown took third place overall for the season. The Maxxis/H & M Motorsports team’s David Haagsma also did well at the round with a 5-4 finish. Maxxis rider Nick Gennusa was named the series’ Rookie of the Year.
