Fowler Wins GNCC Round 12

With his seventh win of the season, Walker Fowler continued his quest for the GNCC Racing presented by Maxxis championship. Fellow Maxxis rider and defending champion Chris Borich took third place. Round 12, Powerline Park, was held October 17 in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Fowler dueled with another rider for the lead from the beginning of the race. By the second lap, the pair was battling nearly 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Fowler soon gained the lead and held it through to the finish line. “At the beginning of the year, I really struggled with starts, so a second-place start was more than enough,” the N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar’s told gnccracing.com.  “I knew I needed to either beat McGill or be right behind him, and all I could think was that the guy I needed to beat was in front on me.” Fowler upped his overall XC1 points lead to 19 with his victory.

Other Maxxis riders also did well at Powerline Park. Maxxis/B. Neal Motorsports’s Brycen Neal took fourth place in XC1 Pro for the day; Neal is fifth overall in the XC1 points race. Bithell Racing/Maxxis/Precision-backed rider Chris Bithell was sixth in the race and is seventh overall for the class. Maxxis/BNR/Moose’s Josh Merritt made the top ten, taking ninth place for the day. Fowler’s teammate Cole Richardson had gained an insurmountable lead in XC2 Pro Am by Round 12, and so chose to focus his efforts on XC1 Pro at the race. In addition to the Pro Am championship, Richardson has achieved impressive results in XC1 Pro, holding sixth place overall.

Maxxis congratulates Walker Fowler on his victory and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances. The company wishes all of its riders the best at the final round of the season, The AMSOIL Ironman, scheduled for October 31 – November 1 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
