Fowler wins season opener

ON THE ROAD TO A GNCC THREE-PEAT, FOWLER WINS SEASON OPENER

Now gunning for his third straight GNCC championship, Walker Fowler began the season with a victory at the opening round of AMSOIL GNCC Racing presented by Maxxis, the Big Buck. The race was held March 4 in Union, South Carolina.

Fowler dominated the race from start to finish, taking the holeshot and then steadily increasing his lead as the race wore on. Executing a careful strategy, he paced himself once his lead grew to nearly a minute. “I knew that with the fields a little dusty and the woods tight that it would be hard to pass,” Fowler told gnccracing.com. “I knew it was important to get out front early and run my own race, so I did just that and put it on cruise control.”

Other Maxxis riders also gave fans an exciting weekend, as Brycen Neal finished just eight hundredths of a second ahead of Chris Borich for third place, with Borich in fourth. In the XC Open Pro class, Ryan Sipes earned the third place spot on the podium.

Maxxis congratulates Walker Fowler on this fine opening to the 2017 season, and thanks Brycen Neal, Chris Borich and all of its riders for their fine performances.
