The King of the Hammers (KOH) Desert Challenge delivered an outstanding start to KOH week for Maxxis. With multiple podiums in this event and top contenders including defending champion Kyle Chaney in upcoming races, the 2026 King of the Hammers is shaping up to be another Maxxis triumph.

Running RAZR XTs with no tire problems to slow him down, Jones took second place in UTV Pro Modified in the Desert Challenge, navigating the rugged KOH terrain with skill and precision. Rising star Chaden Minder continues to dazzle, earning second place in UTV Open and third overall at the Desert Challenge on his RAZR XT tires. Aided by his tires’ superior traction and durability, Minder ran a flawless race. Sierra Romo rounded out the overall top ten for Maxxis and earned eighth place in the UTV Open class, while Todd Zuccone took third place in UTV Pro Stock Turbo.Chaney’s decisive 2025 win shocked the off-road racing world as he became the first-ever UTV driver to win the overall Race of Kings in 4400. This year, he’s ready to take on all comers in both 4400 and 4900, defending his championship and adding to his already history-making record. If qualifying results are any indication, Chaney should do well: He qualified third both overall and in the 4900 class for UTV Hammers, with the qualifier for the 4400 class set for Wednesday. The UTV Hammers event is scheduled for Thursday.Fans who can’t make it to Johnson City, California can catch all the action on YouTube. Tuesday’s schedule includes the Every Man Challenge Qualifier and the Every Man Challenge POWER HOUR, while Wednesday sees the Race of Kings Qualifier and Power Hour. Thursday is the day that athletes race the UTV Hammers Championship, and Friday’s agenda includes the Every Man Challenge race. The action culminates in the Race of Kings on Saturday.
