Michael McFayden enjoyed a double triumph at the SCORE Baja 1000: his second straight Baja 1000 win was also his first since joining Team Honda. On a Talon equipped with Maxxis RAZR XT tires, McFayden took first place in Pro UTV n/a in 22 hours and 25 minutes.
The Baja 1000 is legendary for its difficulty, and many racers never make it to the finish line. Ethan Ebert, however, was able to overcome a mechanical failure which cost him crucial time to finish 17th in the Trophy Truck class. Ebert’s Maxxis RAZR MT-C tires came through for him with just one flat over one of the most brutal courses in off-road racing.
Maxxis grassroots athlete Francisco Beltran also did well on RAZR XT tires, taking second place in Pro Stock UTV. Beltran finished the brutal race in 24 hours.
Doug Mittag experienced a heartbreaker when he was forced to quit just miles from the finish line. Despite his own intense pressure to complete, fellow Maxxis athlete Ethan Ebert was among the many who stopped to help Mittag. “So bummed to DNF at this year’s Baja 1000 and even more bummed how it happened!” Mittag said on Instagram.
Maxxis congratulates Michael McFayden and thanks Ethan Ebert, Doug Mittag and Francisco Beltran for their excellent performances.
