Maxxis’ sponsored riders had a winning weekend in a range of series across the country.
Bobby Bonds led a Maxxis podium sweep in the Big 6 Grand Prix Series kick-off, held February 1-2 in Taft, California. Eric Yorba took the Pro motorcycle holeshot and later claimed second place, while Justin Seeds earned third place. Maxxis-sponsored riders were all over the podium in other classes as well, with Blayne Thompson winning Pro 2 and Tatum Sik and Riley Ellinger taking third and fourth in Women’s Expert, after Ellinger grabbed the holeshot.
In Big 6 ATV races, H&M Motorsports teammates David Haagsma and Beau Baron were 1-2 in Quad Expert, and Donna Ellsworth was second in Quad Vet Expert.
In their first year racing the event, RPM Racing’s Ty Tremaine and Travis Coy cracked the top ten at King of the Motos, held February 1-2 in Johnson Valley, California. Louise Forsley won the Women’s moto, with Rachel Gutish making the podium in third place in her rookie year with this race.
AMA Arenacross points leader Zach Ames took his first overall win of the season at Round 5 of the series, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Defending champion Tyler Bowers of Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis won the first main on Night 1, with Ames in second place. Bowers went on to take second place in the second main.
On the second night, Ames was 2-3 in the main races. Fellow Babbitt’s rider Colt Nichols did well in the first main, taking sixth place. Bowers was on track for the lead in the first main until a mishap with another rider in the seventh lap caused him to finish in tenth place. Bowers took the holeshot and held the lead throughout the second main for the win, earning him the third-place spot for the weekend. Ames and Bowers are first and second in point standings for the series.
Maxxis congratulates Bobby Bonds, Blayne Thompson, David Haagsma, Louise Forsley, Tyler Bowers and Zach Ames on their victories, and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.2014-02-05
