CJ, Johnny Greaves 1-2 in Pro 4 at TORC Crandon; Maxxis Sweeps Pro Lite Crandon Cup Podium

Maxxis was all over the podium at what’s often called the Super Bowl of off-road short-course racing. The company fielded a total of 11 drivers for TORC’s Labor Day weekend races in Crandon, which also included the Crandon Cup.

In Saturday’s Pro 4 race, Johnny Greaves took the holeshot and held the lead until the final lap, as other drivers including Maxxis’ Chad Hord fought for second place. CJ Greaves, behind those drivers for much of the race, took advantage of an opening and made a last-minute pass to take the win. “I guess I had that one coming,” Johnny told TORC after the race, speaking of his second-place finish. “He ran me down and passed me…and that’s the way I raised him.” Hord also ultimately did well, taking fifth place.

The Pro 4 win wasn’t CJ Greaves’ only victory during the weekend: he also took first place in Pro Stock UTV. After battling his way to the front early in the race, CJ held the lead through to the finish line.

In Saturday’s Pro Light race, both Kyle and Cody Kleiman ran Maxxis Bighorn tires, and both wound up on the podium, with Kyle taking his seventh win of the year and Cody earning third place for the day. Also on the podium during the weekend was Eric Ruppel, who deployed his characteristic “mad man” style driving to take third place in Saturday’s Pro 2 race.

The following day at the Crandon Cup races, which featured drivers from both TORC and LOORRS, Maxxis triumphed with a sweep of the Pro Lite podium. Ryan Beat took first place, with Mickey Thomas and Cody Kleiman finishing second and third.

Maxxis congratulates CJ Greaves, Kyle Kleiman and Ryan Beat, and looks forward to cheering on all of its drivers in TORC’s final rounds of the season, scheduled for September 22-24 in Elk River, Minnesota.
