Fearon 2nd in DH Elite Men, Bizet, Crimmins Win at Leogang

In a major triumph for Team Kona, Connor Fearon took his first-ever spot on the World Cup Elite Men’s podium, while Andrew Crimmins won the Juniors’ race. Antoine Bizet of the Kona Gravity Team took first place in 26Trix, a slopestyle competition in Leogang which coincided with the World Cup. UCI World Cup DH #3 was held June 14 in Leogang, Austria.

With what RedBull.com called “the run of his life,” Fearon earned second place in 3:34.399. His run, which put him in the lead for a time, was just .045 seconds less than that of the first-place rider.

Crimmins won the Junior Men’s race in just 3:42.706, with a margin of victory of more than three seconds. The win, his second of the year to date, pushed him to the top of overall rankings for Junior Men’s downhill.

Bizet conquered the 26Trix slopestyle course with a final run that included a cashroll on the first jump, a flatspin X-up to double backflip to a cork 720, and then a front flip no-hander on the last jump, according to Kona. The victory was especially sweet in light of Bizet’s past two seasons, which have seen him plagued by injuries. For his winning run, Bizet trusted Maxxis Ikon and DTH tires.
