Gibbs, Cenni, Henderson Win Big for Maxxis at CHAMP Off-Road Dirt City
Jimmy Henderson, Adrian Cenni and Trey Gibbs whomped the competition at AMSOIL Championship Off-Road Dirt City, with big wins on both days in Pro 4 and Pro Lite.
“Our first win of the season, this was a long time coming! Our team is unbelievable. We put so much time and effort into this pro4 program,” Henderson said of his Round 8 win on Instagram. As he has throughout the season, Henderson outfitted his new truck, Maverick, with Maxxis RAZR AT tires for the traction and puncture resistance he needs when up against the best in his sport. He also made the podium the following day, taking second place, and is currently second in Pro 4 points.
Adrian Cenni’s Pro 4 victory, his third of the year, came the following day when he dominated the competition. The Wildman, as he’s known, praised the durability of his RAZR ATs in the rough conditions of Dirt City. “The Sunday race started in 6th position, and I worked hard for each position. I could run super close to people in front of me without wrecking them and gently nudging them out of the way without popping tires. The track was a blue groove and rutty but drivable. We legitimately worked our way to the front until the checkered flag. The tires did a great job of staying together on a track that is hard on tires,” he said. Cenni is third in points for the class.
Pro Lite points leader Trey Gibbs rode Maxxis Bravo AT-771 tires to the top of the podium at Rounds 8 and 9: “This weekend was fantastic for the TGR team and all our supporting partners. It all started with a strong second-place qualifying, and we knew we had work to do for the first race. I started third and managed to take the lead after the first turn, ultimately winning the first race of the weekend. Going into Sunday, we knew we had a fast truck and just needed to stay focused and execute the plan. With fresh Maxxis tires on, I had one of the most enjoyable races of my career, winning again and completing a weekend sweep. A huge thanks to Maxxis tires for their support this weekend. My team and I are eager for the rest of this weekend and the future ahead.” Tyler Remmereid, who’s new to Maxxis lineup of sponsored athletes and has been turning in sold results all season, took third place in Pro Lite at Round 9.
Mickey Thomas is just one point behind the leader in Pro 2 points, and made the podium in third place at Round 8 and Round 9: “Overall, it was a great weekend for me at Rounds 9 and 10 at Dirt City. To start the weekend, we put our Maxxis-backed Pro 2 on the pole in qualifying, which gave us a great starting spot for the race. For the Saturday race, we were given a very challenging and wet track, and after a mistake early on, I could put my head down and charge back for a third place finish. On Sunday, we started fourth and moved ourselves into another third place finish. Overall, we were able to close our points gap to within one point of the leader, giving us a great shot going into Bark River to regain the points lead. Huge thanks to Maxxis tires for giving us the ultimate traction and durability with the RAZR AT. It performed flawlessly all weekend no matter what conditions were thrown our way.”
Rising star Ryker Remington rode Maxxis Ceros tires to second place in Youth SxS at both rounds this weekend. “This weekend, Maxxis Ceros performed perfectly. I started in eighth place both days and went up to second. My car overtook others, and my tires performed exceptionally well on the track,” said Remington, who’s second in SxS points.
The final regular rounds of the season – a three-race weekend – are scheduled for August 9-11 in Bark River, Michigan, followed August 30-31 by the Polaris World Championships.
