Excitement is building for the '24 Vegas to Reno.
A stacked race lineup leaves both fans and racers excited to see what's in store this year.
Who’s more excited about this week’s Best in the Desert’s Casey Folks Vegas to Reno race? The answer comes down to a coin toss between Maxxis athletes and the fans who can follow all the action via livestream.
Named in honor of Best in the Desert founder Casey Folks, the 555-mile race through western Nevada – or as Best in the Desert calls it, “500 miles of dust, rocks, and glory” – will run from August 14-17, beginning 50 miles north of Las Vegas and ending 50 miles south of Reno.

Fans can follow Maxxis athletes in multiple classes: Honda’s Ethan Ebert will race the Trick Truck class; RJ Merritt of Mongo Racing will compete in 6100; Justin Wicks of Rufus Racing will run in Ultra 4 4400; in UTV Desert Pro Turbo, Maxxis will field Hunter Miller, Cody Miller and Dustin “Battle Axe” Jones; in UTV Open, Cody Bradbury, Vito Ranuio, new Maxxis-sponsored athlete Sierra Romo, Doug Mittag and Chase Mankin will race for Maxxis; and Michael McFayden and GFI’s Steve Austin and Zach Kisman will compete in UTV NA.

This week represents a first for Cody and Hunter Miller. The Miller brothers have already distinguished themselves at multiple King of the Hammers events, but Casey Folks Vegas to Reno will be their first major desert race outside of KOH races.

All the athletes competing are also amped up by the $10,000 cash up for grabs in the Maxxis Tires Final 48, a special one-time contingency open to any athlete who’s fastest in the specified classes for the 48 miles from Race Pit 13 to the finish. Best in the Desert and RacingTraX will be coordinating logistics for tracking the winner, and applications are available under the BITD tab at the Maxxis ATV/SxS sponsorship page. The Maxxis Tires Final 48 is offered in addition to the company’s generous cash contingency program for athletes running Maxxis tires who meet specified conditions.
