We're Going to Need More Brooms

Maxxis athletes show no signs of slowing down as the Championship Off-Road season nears its end, romping all over the competition at Bark River. Mickey Thomas swept all three Pro 2 races, Jimmy Henderson won two out of three rounds, and Trey Gibbs took the win at Saturday’s race. Round 10-13 were held August 9-11.

In Pro 4, Henderson took his second and third wins of the year after starting the weekend with a strong second place at Round 10. His RAZR AT tires were more than up to the challenge of the notoriously tough Bark River course. Henderson is second in Pro 4 points.

Thomas dominated Pro 2 from start to finish beginning with the qualifier, when he ran the fastest lap, outpacing even the Pro 4 trucks. His dominance extends to Pro 2 standings, where he holds the top position. “I pulled off a clean sweep this weekend. The truck was absolutely on rails. The track conditions changed all weekend, and the Maxxis RAZR AT delivered flawlessly. I’m so excited to extend our points lead and end the season with a bang at Crandon,” he said. Thomas and Henderson turned in the fastest lap times of the weekend at Round 12.

Gibbs, who’s first in Pro Lite points, rode his Maxxis Bravo AT-771 tires to victory at Rounds 11 and took second place at Round 10. “It was another successful weekend for the TGR team. This weekend was special due to the fact that there were three races. Friday’s race was a makeup from a rain cancellation, and I was able to bring home a hard-earned second-place finish to start the weekend. On Saturday, I knew we had a fast truck and just needed to be smart and patient. I was able to make the pass for the lead right before the mandatory halfway caution and brought it home for the first win of the weekend. We had a solid truck coming into Sunday, but luck wasn’t in our favor. Sadly, I had to retire my truck from the race after the third corner due to suspension damage. Now, we’re focused on making sure my team as a whole is ready to dominate the final rounds at Crandon,” Gibbs said.

Keegan Kincaid made the podium Sunday and praised his RAZR AT tires: “We were excited about heading into Bark River over the weekend. We struggled with a mechanical issue early into the weekend but finished strong with a podium! Battling a track that challenged tires, our Maxxis RAZR ATs never had a failure and worked amazing – looking forward to getting to Crandon!”

Ryker Remington continues to prove that he’s a future pro contender, taking third place in Youth SxS at Round 10 and holding second place in class points.

The season’s action winds up at the Polaris World Championships, scheduled for August 30-31 at Crandon International Raceway in Wisconsin.
