When legendary rider and driver Jeremy McGrath takes to the course in this year’s Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, he’ll be riding Maxxis. The company has announced that it will sponsor McGrath in 2014.
“I’m really excited,” said McGrath of the sponsorship deal. “This year, I started my own truck team, so I’m very happy about starting a partnership with Maxxis. Maxxis has proven that they are one of the best, if not the best, tires out there. And on the bike side, I’m excited about working with Maxxis engineers on tire development. Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Maxxis in all areas. One of the things I’m so excited about is that I do a lot of mountain biking and I ride a Polaris ATV, too, so Maxxis makes tires for everything I do.” In addition to his short course racing, McGrath will be working this year with Maxxis’ research and development department on designs and testing for the company’s motorcycle tires.
“We’re thrilled to have a champion of his caliber aboard and working with us on multiple fronts,” said Brad Williams of Maxxis. “Jeremy’s record of achievement places him on a level few racers ever reach. We know he’ll do well this year in off-road competition. I also know that our engineers are happy that they’ll be working with someone who has such expertise in all aspects of motorcycle performance. We’re very proud to have Jeremy associated with the Maxxis brand.”
An icon in the racing world, McGrath has racked up 12 championships in supercross and motocross, as well as five X Games medals. He was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2003 and the BMX Hall of Fame in 2010. He has turned his attention to short course off-road racing in recent years, and this year debuts his own team, Jeremy McGrath Motorsports. In addition to LOORRS, he also plans to compete in TORC’s Crandon race this spring.
Maxxis is proud to sponsor the legendary Jeremy McGrath, and looks forward to seeing him on the podium throughout the coming season.
