Schurter Takes 8th World Championship as Höll, Frei, A’Hern Win at Mont-Sainte Anne

After riding alone for the final three laps of the race, Nino Schurter (SCOTT-SRAM) took his eighth Men’s Elite XC World Championship at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada. Vali Höll (SRAM TLD Racing), Sina Frei (Ghost Factory Racing), and Kye A’Hern (Canyon Factory Downhill Team) also took championships at Mont-Sainte-Anne.

Schurter was part of the front group on the first lap of the XC race, and opened a gap along with one other rider on the fourth lap. On the fifth lap, Schurter gained the lead and held it through the finish line, winning by a margin of 30 seconds.

Maxxis-sponsored riders won both Junior World Championships, with A’Hern winning the men’s and Höll winning the women’s. Frei won the Under 23 Women’s World Championship.

Danny Hart (Madison Saracen Factory Team) was fourth in men’s downhill at Mont-Sainte-Anne, with Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate) in fifth place. Emilie Siegenthaler (Pivot Factory Racing) was fifth in women’s DH, Vaea Verbeeck (Rocky Mountain) was eighth, and Sian A’Hern (SRAM/RockShox/Norco Bicycles/TLD/Maxxis) was ninth.
