UHC Wins Every Stage of Men’s and Women’s Tulsa Tough, Women’s Overall; KHS-Maxxis’ Von Nacher Wins Men’s Overall

Team UnitedHealthcare completely dominated the Tulsa Tough omnium, with riders from the Maxxis-sponsored team winning every stage of both the men’s and women’s races and Coryn Rivera winning the women’s overall. Ken Hanson, Hannah Barnes, Luke Keough, Brad White and Rivera each took turns at the top of the podium during the weekend. KHS-Maxxis rider Fabrizio Von Nacher won the men’s overall. Tulsa Tough was held June 6-8 in Oklahoma.

Victories in the first stage went to Hanson and Barnes. Keough took second place in the men’s race, while Barnes was joined by fellow UHC rider Coryn Rivera in third place. As is so often the story with UHC, teamwork was critical to Hanson’s win, with the Blue Train allowing Hanson, Keough, Hilton Clarke and Karl Menzies to sprint for first place in the last laps. Clarke and Menzies were fourth and fifth at Stage 1. Teamwork was just as decisive in the outcome of the women’s race as, with five laps to go, UHC dominated the front of the race. The team’s well-executed plan allowed Barnes and Rivera to sprint across the finish line, with Alison Powers in fourth place.

The second day proved to be even more of a triumph for UHC as the team swept the men’s podium and took first and second place in the women’s race. The men’s Blue Train again provided the set-up for a win, with Keough, Hanson and Clarke in first, second and third places.  The women’s Blue Train delivered an equally powerful performance, with a second win for Barnes, second place for the stage for Rivera and another fourth-place showing for Powers.

Although a large-scale crash marred the final day of the men’s competition, White took the day’s victory with a heroic effort in the last two laps. Von Nacher’s 11th, 4th and 3rd-place showings during Tulsa Tough secured his overall men’s win. Barnes suffered a mishap during the final women’s race, while Rivera took the day’s victory as well as the women’s overall.

Maxxis congratulates Fabrizio Von Nacher, Coryn Rivera, Ken Hanson, Hannah Barnes, Luke Keough and Brad White on their victories and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
