World Cup DH Maribor - Hart, Brosnan, Cabirou Take Podiums

Danny Hart, Troy Brosnan, and Matt Walker started strong in this year’s World Cup DH season, taking second, third, and fifth places in Men’s Elite. Marine Cabirou landed on the Women’s Elite podium in fourth place at Round 1, held April 27-28 in Maribor, Slovenia.

All four had strong runs over the challenging 2.6-kilometer course, which was set in the region’s Pohorje Mountains. Hart and Cabirou each held the hot seat for much of their respective races. Hart, Brosnan, and Walker are now second, third, and fifth in Elite Men’s World Cup standings, and Cabirou is fifth in Elite Women’s.

Maxxis-sponsored riders also did well in the Junior categories, where Vali Holl dominated the women’s contest, winning by nearly ten seconds. Kye A’Hern took third place on the Junior Men’s podium. Holl leads World Cup standings in her class, and A’Hern is third.

The Santa Cruz Syndicate had a tough weekend with Luca Shaw out due to a fractured collar bone, and Greg Minnaar missing the cut in qualification. Only Loris Vergier made it into the race. Vergier looked fast out of the gate and through the top sector, but had a high-speed crash coming into the woods section.

The World Cup DH next goes to Fort William, Scotland for Round 2, scheduled for June 1-2.
