A weekend full of triumphs for Maxxis included a career-first for Brendon Thompson. Thompson and his 42” Maxxis Trepadors fought their way over the rough, technical course of the Ultra 4 Moab Area BFE Beatdown for his first-ever Ultra 4 win in 4400.

Brendon Thompson’s tire of choice has been the Maxxis RAZR MT Competition (MT-C), but the rugged, technical terrain of Moab called for something different. For the punishing 4.5-mile loop, he stepped up to the taller 42” Trepadors… a call that paid off. Thompson started strong by qualifying just two seconds behind the leader and ran a calculated main event, setting a fastest lap of 14 minutes and 40 seconds while building an 8-minute lead by the finish.

Thompson was elated by his victory: “Huge thanks to Maxxis Tires and Brendon Motorsports. What a year! Maxxis really came through for me. The 42” Maxxis Trepadors were the perfect choice and performed awesome. This race marked my first-ever Ultra4 win, and I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from my excellent partners and family.”

Tommy Thompson had a triumphant weekend as well, winning the 4900 class after qualifying in first place. Like Brendon Thompson, Tommy maintained a consistent pace throughout the race. He was joined on the podium by Scott Lesage in second place. Like 68% of the drivers in 4900, both athletes chose Maxxis Roxxzilla tires. Already popular among Ultra4 racers, the Roxxzilla’s reputation was further enhanced in February by Kyle Chaney’s 4400 win on the tires, the first overall victory for a SxS at King of the Hammers.

In 4600, Brexton Glines took the third-place spot on the podium on RAZR MT 35” DOT tires. “The Jeep had a couple of minor issues slowing us down on lap one, but we overcame them and pushed on,” he said. “Lap Two was slow and steady, allowing us to navigate it safely, and that is what we did. We started Lap Three knowing we had to speed it up a bit. We were able to run five minutes faster than the previous laps, putting us in second physically at the finish. On corrected time, we got bumped to third place by only 18 seconds.”
Other Maxxis drivers also did well at Moab. New to Maxxis’ sponsorship program, Jeremy Brown earned fifth place in 4400 on 40” Trepador Competition tires, while Kirk Jensen made the top ten on RAZR MT-C tires.
